| Essentials: Web Page Design of IMMEX Simulations |
An IMMEX problem set is a collection of linked documents connected to IMMEX assessment tools. Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 is a site creation and management tool that enables you to construct menu items and create individual html documents that can be hyperlinked at multiple levels. Prior to developing web pages for an IMMEX problem set, it is crucial that a robust problem space has been designed and reviewed for coherence, accuracy, and viability. By now, you should have completed both a paper prototype, including ideas for at least eight parallel cases and case links for your emerging problem set. You should also have a file management system in place. See file management guidelines discussed earlier if you do not have a file management system in place. It will also help if you have a layout for your problem set planned, so that you know how many frames you will need for your index page and have an idea of the layout of individual web pages. To facilitate constructing web pages, having an estimate of how many columns and rows you'll need for each page will be helpful. Of course, you can modify the layout of your index page and individual web pages later, but planning will save time and help you to get it right on the first attempt. If you do not have a sketch of layout of the index page of your problem set, pause now and quickly draft one before you proceed with transforming your paper prototype into a web-based format. You can preview your work as you work. Before you preview your work, always remember to save it, or you won't see the most recent changes you've made in the document. In Dreamweaver, the F12 button will open up your preferred browser and display the page you're currently working on. |
