Now Available…

Two new 3D Studio Max rendered problem-sets and a Flash driven, interactive overview of the IMMEX Project's goals, software components and research framework have been added to our web site:

Solar System Settlers is a 5 - 8th grade problem-set which challenges students to utilize their knowledge of our solar system's planets in an effort to find an alien family the appropriate environment in which to live. Students must interact with and interpret basic science concepts such as radius, mass volume, density, atmospheric elements, gravitational pull and temperature. For a sample case, visit Demo Users.

After undergoing a rigorous trial period by high school and collegiate level performers, Stoichiometry Version 2 is now available to all IMMEX registered users. By reacting a partially identified compound with another reagent, students must determine their stoichiometric relationships and identify the compound's chemical formula. Stoichiometry covers such Chemistry concepts as oxidation, chemical formulas, naming compounds, limiting reactants, single/double replacement, combustion reactions, molarity, mass, density and Ideal Gas Law. Cases will soon be added to reflect content covered in the IMMEX problem-set Rust Never Sleeps so that teachers and researchers alike can evaluate the transfer of problem-solving strategies across scenarios. Stay tuned…

From teacher constructed software to ongoing/ formative assessment tools to using artificial neural networks for strategy classification, The IMMEX Project: Develop, Monitor and Improve the Skill of Decision Making presentation guides you through the method behind the madness.
