IMMEX Presents to the
National Academy of Sciences' Presidents' Circle
On November 16th The National Academy of Sciences' Presidents' Circle - an
advisory group of the National Academies whose members, drawn primarialy from
business and industry, play an important role in promoting public awareness of
the Academy's work and mission - hosted a conference addressing "How Is
Information Technology Shaping Our Society?" Chosen as the project to discuss
the impact IT can have in education, IMMEX staff, joined by Esperanza High
School Chemistry teacher Dr. Marcia Sprang and IMMEX fellow Gaelan Lloyd,
presented "IT & Cognition in K-12 Education: A Hands-on Approach to Teaching
Problem-solving" to over 100 members. Throughout the 50 minute report and
discussion period, Dr. Stevens delivered a Flash driven presentation
highlighting everything from the nuts and bolts web-assessment services IMMEX
provides to how this technology is being used by researchers to gain access to
some of the complexities regarding human problem-solving behavior and
understanding.
