IMMEX Teachers Receive Fellowships
from the American Association of Immunologists

High school science teachers--active in the IMMEX Project--have received John H. Wallace Research Fellowships from the AAI - American Association of Immunologists.

This ongoing fellowship program offers summer research support for selected teachers to work in the laboratories of AAI members for four weeks and to couple this research with the development of new classroom curriculum based on their research experience. Immediate goals of the program are to provide science teachers with first-hand research experience in immunology and for the teachers to bring what they have learned back to the classroom.

A long-term aim is for teachers and their scientist mentors to establish lasting associations connecting pre-college science educators to the research community.

At the AAI annual meeting the teachers present their newly developed curriculum during both a special symposium for pre-college science educators and scientists and a poster session.

The winners and PDF overviews of their problem-sets are available below.
